The red panda species range extends from Western Nepal to Northern Myanmar. Red pandas also live in the high elevation, mountainous regions of China. Red pandas even live in the forests of the Himalayas. In the Forrest area, a lot of bamboo grows, and that bamboo makes up most of the red pandas diet.

The biome the red panda is found in is the Temperate Deciduous Forest. In the Temperate Deciduous Forest the air is moist and it is very cool. There are also a lot of deciduous and coniferous trees, along with the bamboo. The red panda’s tend to make their homes in dens made of hollow tree. In the Temperate Deciduous Forest, there is also a lot of rhododendrons which are bushes with flowers, for the red panda. The average temperature in a Temperate Deciduous Forest is 50° F. The average rainfall is 30 to 60 inches a year.

The red panda isn’t the only living thing in the Temperate Deciduous Forest. There is a wide diversity of animals in this biome. There also are tons of insects, spiders, slugs, frogs, turtles and salamanders. There are birds like the broad-winged hawks, cardinal, snowy owls, and woodpeckers. Some other mammals that are found in the Temperate Deciduous Forest are raccoon, opossums, white-tailed deer, red foxes, and porcupines.
